Get Out The Vote: Lewes street corner action.

Will you come?

Seeking fellow Americans to help with a simple street corner stall action for voter registration in Lewes. We will be outside the community centre All Saints, which is hosting Lewes Speakers’ Festival. The reason for the action is that Johnny Teague (Republican, Texas) will be presenting under the heading ‘Thomas Paine Returns: Common Sense for a Nation in Crisis’. We’d like to assert Paine’s vision of a ‘No Kings, No Tyrants’ democracy with a simple invitation for Americans abroad to check they are registered to vote and to enable them to do so if not.

Sunday 10th May 14:00-16:00 and 17:00-18:00 (Teague’s talk is 15.50 – 17.00pm)

Democrats Abroad UK will hold our own marquee event in Lewes to celebrate and support American democracy on Sunday 5 July, this 250th anniversary of Common Sense and the Declaration of Independence, drawing on the town’s historical legacy as the home of Thomas Paine from 1768 to 1774.
