Since January, we have been hosting our “Local Organizers: Get Started” series—weekly online sessions held every Wednesday from 6:00–7:00pm. These sessions are designed to support DAUK members across the UK who are interested in organising events in their local communities, from informal gatherings like pub nights, potlucks, and walk-and-talks to more structured activities such as voter registration drives.
As a result, we’ve seen a strong response from members nationwide, with many new local leaders stepping forward to organise meetups and voter outreach initiatives. You can explore all our upcoming and past local events on our website. We are currently on track to reach an ambitious goal of 250 local outreach events by the end of the year, in recognition of the USA’s 250th anniversary.
Looking ahead, we will begin tailoring these “Local Organizing” sessions to focus on specific topics and needs. Our upcoming session on April 29th—“Local Organizing: How to Organize a Voter Registration Drive at a University” - will provide practical guidance for anyone interested in running similar initiatives in their area.
This session will be led by our experienced Get Out The Vote (GOTV) team, joined by members of the DAUK Brighton & Sussex team, who have successfully organized many university-based voter registration drives. They will share their insights, tips, and best practices.
No prior organising experience is required, this training is open to all DAUK members.
