ANDREW VON OEYEN 
Hailed worldwide for his elegant and insightful interpretations, balanced artistry and brilliant technique, Andrew has established himself as one of the most captivating pianists of his generation.

Since his debut at age 16, he has collaborated with such ensembles as the Philadelphia Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, numerous symphonies throughout the world including San Francisco, Detroit, Saint Louis, Seattle, Dallas, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Berlin, Japan, Singapore, Vancouver, Utah, Marseille, Geneva, Slovenia. On July 4, 2009, he performed at the U.S. Capitol with the National Symphony in “A Capitol Fourth,” reaching millions worldwide in the multi-award winning PBS live telecast.

His debut album (Warner Classics label) was released in 2017 to critical acclaim. In 2013, he released an album of Debussy and Stravinsky piano works (Delos Label) following his 2011 award-winning album of Liszt works under the same label. He also released the 2013 digital recording “Andrew von Oeyen: Live in Recital.”

Mr. von Oeyen, of German and Dutch origin, was born in the U.S. He began his piano studies at age 5 and made his solo orchestral debut at age 10. An alumnus of Columbia University and graduate of The Juilliard School. He won the prestigious Gilmore Young Artist Award in 1999 and also took First Prize in the Leni Fe Bland Foundation National Piano Competition in 2001. Mr. von Oeyen lives in Paris and Los Angeles.

Joseph Smallhoover is a member of the Paris, Pennsylvania, California and District of Columbia bars and has practiced law in the United States, France, Germany and Belgium for more than 40 years.

He was reared in Pittsburgh, PA in a union family that was very engaged in Democratic politics. His first campaign was in 1968 and he has been active ever since. Just prior to moving to France, he worked on the Mondale Ferraro campaign in California where he was the assistant to the state campaign chair. He has served in many positions in Democrats Abroad at the Global level, including Global Chair for 2 terms and 8 terms as International Counsel. He was recently re-elected to his 6th term on the Democratic National  Committee and will served on the Rules Committee of the 2020 Democratic National Convention.  As International Counsel, he sits on the Executive Committee of Democrats Abroad.

Deeply involved with Democrats Abroad and the DNC itself, Smallhoover also chaired of the group’s LGBT Caucus from 2008-2013. He falls within a long family tradition of service to the Party and the Nationa – a member of his family has had a role at every National Convention since 1928.  Before that, the family were Republicans, but he only talks about that late at night after a drink or two.
