MARCH 3 "SUPER TUESDAY" GLOBAL PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY (GPP) VOTING CENTER IN DOWNTOWN LONDON

March 3-10, 2020, is "Democrats Abroad PRIMARY WEEK"...

and of course March 3 is “Super Tuesday”!

As in previous election years, Democrats Abroad Canada London & Area Chapter is hosting a GLOBAL PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY VOTING CENTER right here in snowy London, and you are invited to come and cast your vote for the Democratic candidate of your choice!

DETAILS:

Democrats Abroad Canada London & Area Voting Center

March 3, 2020

4:00 - 9:00 PM

Suite #503, 151 Dundas Street

(Dundas @ Richmond)

London, Ontario

Come to the Market Tower entrance next to Freedom Mobile.

  • You will be escorted from the entrance to the 5th floor voting center by volunteers.
  • Official blank ballots will be provided to voters.
  • Assistance will be available for filling out your ballot, if needed.

The 2020 Rules for Global Presidential Primary Voting Centers will be posted at the entrance of the Voting Center, for those who wish to review them. The Voting Center Manager is in charge of the Voting Center and shall manage the site in accordance with the 2020 Democrats Abroad Delegate Selection Plan (DSP) and these rules.

WHO CAN VOTE AT THE DACA LONDON & AREA GLOBAL PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY VOTING CENTER?

  • US citizens residing in Canada
  • Members of Democrats Abroad (same day registration accepted)
  • Eighteen (18) years old as of November 3, 2020, or older

Voters are presumed to be eligible to vote upon self-certification of their identity and eligibility as US citizens residing in the Country Committee of their Voting Center. Each voter will be given a printed official ballot to be completed and signed in dark ink. A ballot will be considered invalid for the following reasons:

  1. The voter has not completed the ballot with all of the information as required;
  2. The voter votes for two or more candidates (or uncommitted); or
  3. The voter does not sign and date the ballot declaration.

***If you have ALREADY voted in the Presidential Primary, you can still come on March 3 to hear and talk to the speakers next-door, or sign up to be a DACA London & Area Chapter Volunteer.***

Once the center closes at 9:00 PM (or as soon as the final member in line at that time casts their ballot), ONLY the Voting Center Manager and Tellers will remain to remove the ballots from the ballot box, and officially tabulate and tally the votes. Ballots, including provisional ballots, will then be filed with the Democrats Abroad Global Chair pursuant to the rules.

PLEASE NOTE: We need VOLUNTEERS!!!!

The March 3 voting center will also serve as a VOLUNTEER FAIR, a time to let DACA London & Area Chapter know if you can spare some time for volunteering. Our Chapter originated the idea of posting “Vote from Abroad” yard signs to GET OUT THE VOTE in this area. Other DA chapters plan to do this, too! This is a high priority activity for our Chapter this Spring! And…

If you have time on March 3 to volunteer, we would be very grateful! Please let us know. The hours of need are from 3-10:00 PM, and for those who reply and offer their time, an email response with further information will be provided. Voting centers need Tellers, people to escort voters from the entrance to the center, and depending on our attendance, we may need additional assistance for new members joining, to hand out blank ballots, etc.

Please be sure to REGISTER to vote in the General Election and request your ballot, if you have not done so, go to: votefromabroad.org.

DACA London & Area Chapter will ALSO have some special speakers of interest next-door! LOOK FOR a separate event notice for that. We will have experts in US taxes, investments, and immigration who will be in the suite next to the Voting Center to speak during these hours (two 30-minute talks from each).

ONE LAST NOTE:

ALSO, see our Annual General Meeting Event. The AGM takes place starting at 3:00 PM on March 3, 2020, in the the same location as the GPP Voting Center. We hope you will be able to come early and attend this meeting! An executive committee slate will be recommended, but if requested there will be voting from the floor. YOUR interest in serving on the Chapter's Committee - even as a Member at Large - would be very welcome! Other positions will also be coming available on the Committee.

This is a CRITICAL YEAR for the Democrats! Please look up my page on Facebook, @GenaforDACA, where in the coming months I will be publishing information on our GET OUT THE VOTE activities and social media materials for you to SHARE! "Vote from Abroad" is non-partisan, its role is to get Americans out to VOTE this year!

That is also where you can learn how to obtain one of our "Vote From Abroad" YARD SIGNS for your yard, your neighbors' yards, and especially PROMINENT locations in London, St. Thomas, Middlesex County and nearby, where potential voters might see these!

Yours Sincerely,

Gena Brumitt
