Global Data & Analytics Director


About the Position

Democrats Abroad (DA) was the margin of victory for Joe Biden in Georgia and Arizona. We’re determined to deliver scale-tipping votes in races across the United States again in 2022. In order to do so, we must be guided by data to develop our outreach campaigns, regularly evaluate their effectiveness, and react agilely as necessary.

The Data & Analytics Director will play a key role in this undertaking by developing and executing a data and analytics strategy that allows for critical evaluation of our voter outreach efforts and identifies opportunities for growth. Additionally, the Data & Analytics Director will work closely with the International Executive Committee, the State Teams Coordinator, and the GOTV Coordinators to obtain, scrub, and process external data on overseas voters, such as public voting rolls, in compliance with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable data privacy laws. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Work with the International Executive Committee and GOTV Coordinators to create a short and long-term data and analytics strategy 
  • Build a Data & Analytics Team in coordination with the International Chair
  • Develop and execute a process to systematically record and report metrics on internal data concerning DA membership joins, DA membership engagement, voter registration trends, ballot request figures, ballot return figures, voter contact results, and other relevant data
  • Promptly alert the International Executive Committee, GOTV Coordinators, and Vote From Abroad Coordinators to any irregularities and/or opportunities routine internal data analysis is suggesting
  • In coordination with the DA International Executive Committee and the State Teams Coordinator, work with stateside partners to obtain raw external data on overseas voters and turn it into a form that can be easily used and analyzed
  • Scrub and process external data on overseas voters for use in DA voter outreach campaigns
  • Securely maintain available external voter data for use and analysis, in compliance with GDPR and other applicable data privacy laws
  • Report to DA International Executive Committee members on a bi-weekly basis and regularly attend their meetings

 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Commitment to helping DA, the Democratic Party, and Democratic candidates succeed
  • Member of Democrats Abroad (join here)
  • Comprehensive first-hand knowledge of the U.S. voting constituency abroad, as well as of issues unique to overseas voters
  • Highly communicative and responsive
  • Well versed in statistical analysis and predictive modeling
  • Ability to break down complex information and clearly communicate essential points to a larger audience
  • Familiar with data privacy law applicable to DA, particularly GDPR
  • Fluent in programming languages necessary for critically analyzing large datasets
  • Proficient in operating data visualization platforms such as Tableau, Google Data Studio, etc.
  • Proficient in operating database systems, particularly NationBuilder and VAN
  • Ability to manage multiple projects across multiple time zones, occasionally requiring rapid turnaround

 

Logistical Details

Location: Online

Estimated Time Commitment: 15-20 hours per week (flexible working hours)

Language: English

Start Date: From January 10, 2022

End Date: May 2023

Compensation: Unpaid (but tremendously rewarding!)
