Global Fundraising Chair


About the Position

Democrats Abroad (DA) was the margin of victory for Joe Biden in Georgia and Arizona, and we’re determined to continue delivering scale-tipping votes in races across the United States in 2021 and 2022. The Global Fundraising Coordinator will play a critical role in achieving this aim by leading teams and campaigns that will ensure DA has the funds available to reach even more U.S. voters abroad in the midterms.

Upon appointment, and in collaboration with the International Chair, the Global Fundraising Coordinator will identify at least six additional DA volunteers to serve on the Global Fundraising Team. The Global Fundraising Coordinator will lead this Team in creating and implementing a global strategic fundraising plan for 2022 and in supporting DA country committees in their national-level fundraising efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Motivate, lead, and delegate tasks below among the Global Fundraising Team
  • Hold regular Global Fundraising Team meetings
  • Analyze past donation data, as well as data on the size and profile of the U.S. citizen population abroad by location, to identify key areas for growth and to set measurable goals for 2022
  • Create and execute a global fundraising plan for 2022
  • Write and send DA global fundraising emails
  • Provide fundraising support to DA leaders, as well as offer fundraising trainings for them periodically through the 2022 midterms
  • Collaborate with DA Design Coordinator to develop promotional fundraising materials
  • Collaborate with DA Events Coordinator to develop global DA fundraising events
  • Collaborate with Global Internal Communications and Social Media Coordinators to ensure optimal promotion of fundraising campaigns and events
  • Create annual fundraising reports for recurring and major donors
  • Track and regularly report on quantitative metrics to the International Executive Committee
  • Report to DA International Executive Committee members on a bi-weekly basis and regularly attend their meetings

Skills & Qualifications

  • Commitment to helping DA, the Democratic Party, and Democratic candidates succeed
  • Member of DA (join here)
  • Understanding of DA’s organizational structure
  • Comprehensive knowledge of fundraising strategies employed in political and/or non-profit settings
  • Familiarity with Federal Election Commission (FEC) donation regulations (or willingness to learn)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the U.S. population abroad and potential donor networks
  • Ability to track and interpret statistical data
  • Experience crafting fundraising newsletters and publications to a large audience
  • Ability to generate innovative ideas to raise donations, as well as to motivate and oversee volunteers that see them through
  • Ability to manage multiple projects across multiple time zones
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong IT skills, especially with Google Workspace and NationBuilder

Location: Online

Estimated Time Commitment: 10 hours/week in 2021; 15 hours/week in 2022

End Date: May 2023

Compensation: Unpaid (but tremendously rewarding!)
