About the Position
Democrats Abroad (DA) was the margin of victory for Joe Biden in Georgia and Arizona, and we’re determined to continue delivering scale-tipping votes in races across the United States in 2021 and 2022. The Global Social Media Coordinator will play a critical role in achieving this aim by developing and leading digital outreach projects designed to find U.S. citizens abroad, keep them informed about U.S. politics, and drive their participation U.S. elections through May 2023.
Upon appointment, and in collaboration with the International Chair, the Global Social Media Coordinator will collectively identify at least six additional DA members to serve on the Global Social Media Team. This Team will be responsible for creating and implementing a global strategic plan for digital outreach in 2022 that will help supplement and support DA country committees in their national-level digital outreach and ultimately drive ballot requests and returns among the larger U.S. population abroad.
Responsibilities
- Motivate, lead, and delegate tasks (content development and distribution, page monitoring, user engagement metrics, digital ads, etc.) among the Global Social Media Team
- Hold regular Global Social Media Team meetings
- Compile and analyze 2020 and 2021 DA and VFA social media data across platforms to identify key areas for growth and to set measurable goals for 2022
- Create a strategic plan for DA’s social media outreach in 2022
- Act as an administrator on all DA and VFA global accounts
- Compile and maintain a comprehensive list of all DA social media accounts, including those of countries, chapters, and caucuses
- Maintain social media content calendar that is centrally stored and accessible to DA leaders
- Stay current with the latest social media best practices, trends, and platforms
- Build and maintain relationships via social media with influencers sympathetic to DA’s cause
- Collaborate with Democratic National Committee (DNC) Communications teams
- Collaborate with Global Design Coordinator to increase DA and VFA’s brand awareness
- Work closely with Global Internal Communications and Press Coordinators to ensure coherent, consistent, and effective messaging
- Track and regularly report on quantitative metrics to the International Executive Committee
- Report to DA International Executive Committee members on a bi-weekly basis and regularly attend their meetings
Skills & Qualifications
- Commitment to helping Democrats Abroad, the Democratic Party, and Democratic candidates succeed
- Member of Democrats Abroad (join here)
- Comprehensive knowledge of digital outreach and advertising strategies employed in political contexts
- Strong familiarity with all major social media platforms, as well as eagerness to identify and act on opportunities on up-and-coming platforms
- Experience creating content for social media (graphical, video, written)
- Deep first-hand knowledge of the U.S. voting constituency abroad, as well as of issues unique to overseas voters
- Ability to create and achieve shared measurable goals through strong team leadership
- Ability to generate innovative ideas to better help overseas voters, as well as to motivate and oversee teams that see them through
- Willingness to work nights and weekends as needed
- Ability to manage multiple projects across multiple time zones
- Highly communicative and responsive to internal and external requests
- Strong written and oral communication skills
