Global Town Hall with George Takei

Join Democrats Abroad for our fifth Global Town Hall of 2016 with special guest George Takei

Monday, October 24,

8:15 AM EDT (Washington DC time) by video-conference

Our very own Martha McDevitt-Pugh, DNC Member, Vice-Chair in the Netherlands, and Chair of the LGBT Caucus, will start things off by discussing the Democrats Abroad LGBT Caucus and Advocacy Work.

George Takei will be sharing his thoughts with DA about what really makes America great, why he supports Hillary for President — and why we must win the White House and Take Back Congress.

George Hosato Takei, born April 20, 1937, is an American actor, director, author, and activist. Takei is best known for his role as Hikaru Sulu, helmsman of the USS Enterprise in the television series Star Trek.

Takei's involvement in social media, particularly his social and political commentary on questions of equality and social justice, has brought him new fame. His Facebook page currently has over 9.8 million likes and his popular Twitter feed has over 1.8 million followers.

He is a proponent of LGBT rights and active in state and local politics in addition to his continued acting career. He has won several awards and accolades in his work on human rights and Japanese-American relations, including his work with the Japanese American National Museum and his groundbreaking role in the Broadway musical, Allegiance.

Following George's talk, we will be hearing from Rep. Jared Polis (CO 2), Rep. Seth Moulton (MA 6), and Dominic Lowell, head of LGBT outreach for the Clinton campaign.  We expect that there will be other guests joining the Global Town Hall with George Takei, including candidates for Congress. Check back here for updates.
