And To The Republic... is a work that revolves around this one, simple truth: we are the sum of our parts – the shiny and good & the dark and twisty. Intertwined, they make up the whole of who we are. It’s only by acknowledging, examining, and fully integrating those dark’n’twisties can we, as individuals and as a nation, move forward and finally live up to the promise of our democracy. Song, prose and storytelling are woven together to bring this project to life, a project that is grounded in and draws upon archival research and the works of luminaries like James Baldwin, Imani Perry, and Brené Brown.

After the performance, there will be a moderated conversation between the creator and artist, Leora Glasgow, and Sabina Chen. It will center around the themes of the piece as well as this political moment more broadly. Questions will also be taken from the live and virtual audience.
