International Day of Persons with Disabilities
Join the Democrats Abroad Global Disability Caucus (GDC) for a panel discussion where we’ll celebrate and talk about the history of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, provide some context, raise issues and hear from a panel representing the diverse voices and perspectives of Democrats Abroad Global Caucuses and moderated by Allyssa Schoenemann. Our focus will be on community, disabilities and intersectionality while exploring some of the ways each of our complex identities can influence our experiences. This important event is co-sponsored by the Global AAPI Caucus, Black Caucus, Hispanic Caucus, LGBTQ+ Caucus, Progressive Caucus, VMF Caucus, Women's Caucus and Youth Caucus.
We hope to help build a better understanding of the many ways disability can alter an individual's needs in various situations and the role disability plays in how we and others perceive our identity.
We are also dedicated to building a stronger Democrats Abroad - by making all information, events and activities more accessible and being more cognizant of, and sensitive to, disability issues. We hope this will be yet another meaningful discussion of many conversations in the coming months and years!
