Call for Nominations:  Democrats Abroad Ireland Executive Committee Elections 2025

The 2025-27 Executive Committee will be elected at this year’s AGM on Saturday, May 17, 2025. To facilitate our broad membership, the meeting will be a hybrid one, in-person in Dublin and remotely for Members who cannot travel to Dublin, or who wish to participate remotely.

The 2025 Nominating and Elections Committee (NEC) is seeking qualified candidates (see below) for the following positions on the Executive Committee.  We have a number of positions that are term-limited (including Chair) and would encourage anyone with interest to step forward and speak to the NEC about roles with the Country Committee.  The current committee is very supportive and will help new officers transition into their roles.  For those offices without nominations prior to the meeting per the schedule below, we will take nominations from the floor.  Otherwise the candidates will only be those appearing on the NEC nominations list distributed by May 3rd. 

·  Chair

·  Vice-Chair

·  Treasurer

·  Secretary

·  Counsel

·  Up to four Members-at-Large positions, one of whom should be a Young Democrat (age between 18 and 39)

Qualified candidates are members of Democrats Abroad Ireland. If you are interested in running for any of these positions or would like to nominate someone:

·  Please send your name or that of the nominee and a short bio/candidate statement to the NEC at [email protected] by May 1, 2025.

·  Please note: All nominations must be seconded via email to the NEC at [email protected] by the May 1, deadline.  If you are nominated without a second, the NEC will be in touch with you to facilitate your nomination.  

·  If you are interested in voting, but cannot attend the meeting in person or remotely, you may select another member of Democrats Abroad Ireland to be your proxy as stated in the bylaws [use link above]. Please email the name of the person who will be your proxy to [email protected] before 5pm on May 15.

·  Information about candidates and their bios/statements will be published on the DA-Ireland website and to members by email no later than May 3, 2025.

Details about the AGM on Saturday May 17, 2025

The 2025-2027 Executive Committee will be elected at this year’s AGM on Saturday, May 17, 2025. The meeting will be a hybrid one, in-person in Dublin and remotely for Members who cannot travel to Dublin, or who wish to participate remotely. Voting will be electronic for all attendees using computers, tablets, and smartphones. Full voting instructions will be provided to those at the meeting (both in-person and remotely).  Voting and participation in the meeting is limited to verified members of DA Ireland. 

·  When: Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 1 pm

·  Where: In-person at JR Mahons (location address is on  RSVP page) in the city centre of Dublin OR remotely on Zoom beginning at 1pm. 

·  RSVP here using the link to the event before 1 p.m. on May 15, 2025. Everyone who sends an RSVP will receive the link to the remote meeting and the physical location of the meeting in City Centre Dublin. Even if you plan to attend in-person, you will be able to log into the remote meeting if your plans change.
