CHAPTER ELECTIONS

It is time for our bi-annual election of chapter officers. The Elections Committee is pleased to call for nominations for the following positions: Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer,and Secretary of the DAS Valencia Chapter.

Present officers: Democrats Abroad – Valencia:

Chair: Graham Tyner*

Vice-Chair: Vacant (Melane Comstock, acting Vice-Chair)

Secretary: Christen Bradbury*

Treasurer: Melane Comstock*

*Asterisks indicate officers who are in their first term and are eligible to run again.

The requirements:

Each officer is to serve a term of two years

None may serve for more than two consecutive terms in the same office.

The Chair and Vice Chair must be of different gender.

As called for in the Democratic Party Committee Abroad (DPCA) Charter, the Nominations and Elections Committee (NEC) is required to forward to the Valencia Chapter Chair and other local officers, in writing, names of the qualifying individuals nominated by the Elections Committee. (Electronic submissions accepted).

The newly elected officers assume their duties after the election

Affirmation: Each nomination should contain an affirmation that the nominee is qualified to run for the office in question. That requires a confirmation of the following requirements:

(1) the nominee must be a U.S. citizen (copy of passport will be required);

(2) the nominee must be living abroad within the boundaries of the Valencia chapter;

(3) the nominee must adhere to the principles of the Democratic Party of the United States;

(4) the nominee must be a member of Democrats Abroad.

Submissions: Please submit all nominations to the Elections Committee by Monday, March 11(11:59pm CET), using the following email address, [email protected]

Candidate profile: Each nominee will be asked to submit by Saturday, March 16, for circulation among the membership, a detailed candidate profile summarizing qualifications, experience and reasons for wanting to take on a leadership role. Candidate profiles will be circulated among the chapter members by Monday, March 18.

For those unable to attend the meeting there will be an online voting opportunity, and a proxy form so someone attending can vote for you and to assist in achieving the necessary quorum.
