Celebration of Life for Ed Ungar
Democrats Abroad and Ed's daughter-in-law, Sara Hall, invite you to join us to celebrate the life of Ed Ungar who passed away peacefully at home on April 7, 2025.
Ed was a long time active member of Democrats Abroad since he came to Canada as a grad student at Carleton in the 70's when George McGovern was the Democratic nominee. In 2016, he was a Bernie Sanders supporter and Delegate in his home city of Philadelphia for the Democratic National Convention.
For many years, Ed was our number one policy wonk, drawing on his career in journalism to keep us informed about the news. He worked to organize Pints and Politics talks and provided political trivia questions for Thanksgiving dinners.
He was tireless in working to register Americans to vote in the US elections - whether standing on a corner with a sign and cards or manning a booth at a street fair.
Many of us were inspired and encouraged by his persistence and never-flagging commitment. Most recently, he attended the Toronto Chapter's AGM and post meeting pub dinner at the end of March.

We will all miss him very much.
