Virtual Volta: Freedom Waves
Democrats Abroad -- especially those who live beyond the metro areas -- rarely see each other face to face. Virtual Voltas are a great opportunity to come together, have a good time, and get to know each other better – or at all.
Your Representatives-at-Large, Gina and Daniel, invite you especially to the “Freedom Waves” gathering. It's an opportunity to celebrate and discuss the Democratic Convention and its highlights. (And those who want to watch the final two hours of the convention “live” together at 4:00 am on Friday here in Greece will have a chance to do that together, too, if they like via a separate zoom link.)
But at the heart of this Volta is: Making sure you are ready to be the wave. First with your vote – and then ways to help others be part of the wave, too.
Gina and Daniel’s game plan for the “Freedom Waves” Volta:
- Make sure everyone's all “ready-set-go" to vote absentee from abroad.
- Brainstorm ways of amplifying your vote, building the wave.
> Discuss how we can connect via social media, including what platforms we use and how we use them. Encourage everyone to follow and engage with DAGR’s social media posts. That is, no "just scrolling by"! Comments and shares are easy ways to help us reach more people.
> Talk about the “elephants” in the room: Strategies to deal with family and friends who are undecided, lean conservative (or have gone full “MAGA”) here in Greece, in the States, or elsewhere. - Ask everyone to volunteer actively where and how they can.
- What help does anyone need, in any way related to the coming election? What do we, DAGR, and the wider community need to do to help you maximise your reach, your Wave?
