Afternoon Tea at the Darius for a Last Get-Together of 2023!

We are happy to invite you to a last get-together in 2023 in Aix-en-Provence for an afternoon tea.

We'll be meeting up at 4:30 pm on Saturday, December 2nd, at the Darius, a conveniently located café to the Rotonde in the Allées Provençales (officially, 115 Av. Giuseppe Verdi, 13100 Aix-en-Provence). 

One of our members is a clarinetist in the venerable Harmonie Municipale d'Aix-en-Provence (HMAP), a wind orchestra over a hundred years old. HMAP is a local institution composed of talented amateurs that gives a dozen concerts a year in the area. They are hosting a winter concert at the nearby Conservatoire from 6 PM onwards and we're all invited to attend.

For the first half, HMAP has invited the Fiera Brass Jazz 30, a big/brass band featuring jazz and java styles of music from the 1930s.

In the second part, the Harmonie Municipale d'Aix-en-Provence has put together a program featuring classical and popular tunes, highlighting its soloists in Artie Shaw's clarinet concerto, Piccolo Picante and the Marquez Danzon number 2 (featuring one of our own Members-at-Large, among others). The orchestra will also perform works by Gershwin and Bacalov, as well as an irreverant arrangement of Tchaikovsky's famous Nutcracker ballet for the season. 

To attend the concert in the Campra Auditorium of the Darius Milhaud Conservatory in Aix-en-Provence, starting at 6 PM on Saturday, December 2nd, it is necessary to reserve seats ahead of time. The concert is sold out every year. It's a great deal at only 5€ a seat, to cover the security and technical personnel of this popular venue. Ticket pick-up is from 5:30-5:45pm.
