Film and Dinner Night: "The Florida Project"
After two years of "Confinement Cinema," we will have our first in-person film night on Wednesday March 23rd!
Join us for the excellent 2017 indie film “The Florida Project,” starring Willem Defoe and a wonderful cast of child actors. This great film is both funny and serious, showing the gap between the American dream and the all-too-frequent reality of American poverty - all viewed through the eyes of children living in a Florida motel. Check out the preview here.
The festivities start at 6pm at the restaurant "Le 13" in La Hulpe, just south of Brussels. Ordering dinner and drinks are encouraged, as we get the meeting room for free!
After the film, DAB member Jerry Loftus will lead a discussion of the political themes in the film, including housing, child poverty, and more. If these "Florida Project" kids don't inspire us, nothing will...
How To Get There: The restaurant "Le 13" is close to the train station in La Hulpe (line Brussels Central to Ottignies) and is also easily reachable via the TEC (010 23 53 53) bus from Flagey. And if you are interested in getting (or giving) a ride with one of the other attendees, contact us and we will try to set you up!
