UK Political Book Club - On Freedom by Timothy Snyder

We meet one Tuesday a month via Zoom from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM UK time.  We discuss the book of the month (45 minutes) and then current events (30 minutes).

All are welcome! even if you haven't read the book.  We often suggest reviews, interviews and podcasts to help you access the book in a way that fits your schedule.

Upcoming books and dates are announced 3 to 6 months ahead of time.  Book discussion questions are sent out 3 to 4 weeks ahead of time.  A current events newsletter is sent out during the week before the meeting.  Have a book suggestion?  Please contact us at the email below.

On Tuesday Jan 21 we'll be discussing On Freedom by Timothy Snyder.  A professor at Yale University, Snyder is an American historian of Europe and a public intellectual on both continents.  His expertise on Central and Eastern Europe has become particularly well-known and acclaimed since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.  His On Tyranny, which the Book Club read earlier, is often quoted nowadays as Trump re-enters the White House.  His work inspires art and music, and is read at protests around the world.  Snyder writes the blog Thinking about... .

Snyder spoke to Democrats Abroad this past July.  Watch the video here.

RSVP or contact [email protected] to receive the Zoom link, discussion questions, and current events newsletter.
