Secretary of Democrats Abroad Thailand

In today's political climate, volunteering to promote social justice helps me sleep at night. Through DA I can encourage discourse on the ideas and issues  that an informed citizenry should be having while offering opportunities for activism.

  • BANGKOK VOTING CENTER - DEMOCRATS ABROAD PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY

Bangkok will have the first voting center in the world opening on Super Tuesday.  Be one of the first Americans in the world to cast their vote.   Join thousands of U.S. citizens like you, living abroad, who will participate in this year’s Global Presidential Primary through Democrats Abroad. Every vote counts! This voting center is operated by Democrats Abroad at the Foreign Correspondents Club.

    -SUPER Tuesday, March 3rd, 11am - 7pm

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Who is eligible to participate?

Democrats Abroad has just a few requirements for voting in the primary:
-Be abroad and be a U.S. citizen
-Be a member of Democrats Abroad
-Be 18 years old as of November 3, 2020Not have voted, or plan to vote, in any other 2020 state presidential primary (see below for more details)

What if I’m not a member of Democrats Abroad?
You can sign up here on our website or on the day of the primary: https://www.democratsabroad.org/join

I can’t attend the Voting Center but want to vote. What can I do?

If you can’t join us in person, as long as you’re a member of Democrats Abroad, you can also vote remotely. Look for your primary ballot in your inbox on February 18, 2020.

I vote in California. Can I vote in the Global Presidential Primary and the California primary?
You can only vote in the presidential primary once. That means that if you vote in the Global Primary but also want to vote in California for the down-ballot primary races (such as for your congressperson), you can! Just skip the presidential question on your California ballot.

I have already received my overseas absentee ballots for this year from California. Why should I participate in the Democrats Abroad Global Presidential Primary instead of voting in the California presidential primary?

While thousands and thousands of people will participate in the Global Presidential Primary this year, millions will vote in your home state. That means that, as an individual, your primary vote with Democrats Abroad is more powerful than if you were to vote in California -- in fact, 4 times more powerful!

Who will win the Global Presidential Primary?

That’s up to you to decide! We’ll be announcing the results of our primary on March 23, 2020

    I have questions about voting.

Please email gotv@democratsabroad.org so we can help!

I have other questions about the Global Primary in Thailand.

Please email info-Thailand@democratsabroad.org and we’ll get back to you soon.

I'm a journalist and would like to interview someone or be accredited to cover the primary.

Please email info-Thailand@democratsabroad.org with your accreditation, request, questions, and other concerns. We'll be in touch right away.

Democrats Abroad Thailand (DAT) is the official country committee for US Democrats living in Thailand.  We provide opportunities for Americans in Thailand to get involved in the Democratic party and issues that matter to them. These are trying times and it will take all of us to fight back.   US citizens around the world are organizing for a fairer and more just America that embraces diversity- let's raise our voices together and be heard all the way from Thailand.

We support our great Democratic candidates and encourage discussion about the ideas and solutions they offer through debate watch parties, post-debate discussions, live chats with the candidates.   We host political pub nights to get your political banter on, Ladies Night, issue based call-congress parties,  film nights,

If you are specifically interested in racial justice, gender equality and/ or  LGBTQ rights - join one or all of our Caucuses here on the website and then follow us on FB : Black Caucus and  Women's Caucus.

We have three official chapters, in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and the North, and Pattaya and the Eastern Seaboard.  We are always looking to grow our chapter network so if you are interested in organizing for social justice- let me know!

You can find us on Facebook at Democrats Abroad Thailand and Democrats Abroad Chiang Mai or on Twitter @DemsUSAThailand and @DemsAbroadThai

  • Democrats in Bangkok Get Out the Vote at the Annual Independance Day Picnic

Democrats Abroad volunteers were out in force at the annual American Chamber of Commerce Independence Day picnic.

A highly anticipated event within the American expat community in Bangkok, this year's attendance was as big as ever with over 2,000  showing up for music, games and good food.    The computers were humming at the DA table with Americans requesting absentee ballots.  Printers were available so that everyone could print and sign their requests, place it in an addressed envelope and send it to the Embassy for mailing.   Old friends joined the effort and many new faces came by to see how they could get involved in making the blue wave happen here in Thailand.
