CELEBRATE EARTH DAY BY CONVERTING YOUR GARDEN INTO AN ECO-GARDEN
A new trend is sweeping the globe and Costa Rica is part of the wave. It's called eco-gardening, pollinator-friendly yards, or environmental gardening.
- Do you care about the environment?
- Are you aware that our planet is in the middle of a mass extinction event?
- You may think gardening is good for the environment, however scientists have shown that conventional gardens, with extensive, well-kept lawns and exotic plants, are actually bad for the environment and harming biodiversity.
- Even if you have a small vegetable garden, a patch of grass, a hedge, some trees, or a patio, you can convert them into something that supports biodiversity and gives you hope for the future of our planet.
Join DACR member Steve Johnson in a Zoom program on how you can convert your garden into the biodiversity heartbeat of your neighborhood and contribute to a healthier, more sustainable, and more biologically diverse planet.
Steve has gardened in Costa Rica for more than 17 years, ran a school garden when he was in the Peace Corps, wrote a column about gardening in Costa Rica, and conducted research for the Ministerio de Agricultura and the Universidad de Costa Rica.
