Ballot Return Instructions

For personal assistance in our chapter, feel free to contact us at [email protected], or by WhatsApp at +52-951-647-0827. We will also post more information on our FB page.

In Oaxaca de Juárez, feel free to stop by the Oaxaca Lending Library. After ballots arrive on September 21, we will be there every morning for ten days (except when the library is closed). See our FB page for more updates.

If you did not receive your ballot by September 21, please contact us for assistance or contact your local election official in the US. If you no longer have the contact information for your local election official, you can go to votefromabroad.org. The contact information is at “Your State Rules” (scroll down to “Find Your Election Office”).

ELECTRONIC RETURN: If you have the option of online or email/fax return for your ballot, please do that.

FAX: If you don’t have access to a fax machine, you can upload your ballot using a website like faxzero.com, and they will convert it to a fax and send it to the number you specify, up to three pages for free.

Alternatively, voters can utilize a scan/email to fax service provided by the U.S government. You can email a scanned ballot to [email protected].
Fax cover sheet found here: https://www.fvap.gov/uploads/FVAP/Forms/TransmissionCoversheet.pdf

They will convert your ballot into a fax and send it to the number you specify.  FVAP can get overloaded closer to Election Day, so we recommend that you use them only up to October 30.

MAIL: If you are returning your ballot to a state that requires that you use mail, you have the following options:

  • You can send your ballot through the diplomatic pouch. We recommend that you send your ballot via DHL to the US embassy in Mexico City by September 25. More information about using the diplomatic pouch can be found at https://mx.usembassy.gov/voting/
  • You can use DHL or other express couriers to send your ballot directly to your local election official. **Please call your local election official to get the address for courier packages, and ask if needed will someone sign for the envelope.**
  • If you happen to be traveling to the US, you can put your ballot in a mailbox there; we recommend you confirm with your LEO that mailing the ballot from within the US will be OK. Be careful about giving your ballot to another individual to return it for you; in many states, there are laws about who can carry another person’s ballot.

As always, feel free to contact us with any questions at the email address above.
