The Democratic Party, its founding principles and many successes: How we reassert majority support

Democrats Abroad Suisse Romande offers a deep dive into the Democratic Party and why, foundationally, it truly deserves majority support. Historian Charles Chamberlain and political analyst Bob Piller will present their thesis in three parts:

  • Historical evolution of the Dem party from the 19th Century to present.
  • Key party successes in historic context.
  • Countering myths (eg. that the Republican Party is better for the economy) and hostile labeling of the party, that have kept us from dominance since the Reagan era.

Bob and Charles will then open it up to discussion from the floor on the party's future.

Members from all of Switzerland are invited to attend this on-line event. Please register below to get the zoom connection information.

Our two speakers:

Charles Chamberlain is a historian of the United States with a specialty in the history of the American South and Latin America. He currently teaches history for the University of New Orleans and has a forthcoming book on the complete history of New Orleans.

After Trump’s first victory, Bob Piller became driven to understand how this happened. He now has over 100 books on American history and politics on his Kindle and devotes too many hours daily following political pundits in all the media. He has even gone so far as to have watched three Trump 2024 campaign rallies in their entirety (very illuminating). Now retired, he had a career in international trade and commodity finance.
