Film synopsis: 'On June 17, 1972, in Washington, five “burglars” were caught red-handed in the Democratic National Committee offices located in the Watergate building. The police investigation was botched, but two Washington Post journalists, Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein (“Woodstein” to their colleagues), conducted their own investigations and proved the involvement of the CIA and close associates of President Richard Nixon in this attempt to spy on the Democratic Party, as well as in numerous other illegal activities. On August 9, 1974, Nixon, who had been re-elected, resigned.'
