Call Storm about Residence-based Taxation (RBT) plus Steering Committee meeting

Western Sweden Steering Committee
June 15th is tax deadline for Americans abroad.
Citizenship-based Taxation (CBT) is what requires us to file U.S. tax returns on foreign income (in addition to tax returns in Sweden or wherever we may live).
CBT is what causes many people to spend inordinate amounts of money -- or time and headaches -- on tax preparation (even if we don't end up owing any U.S. tax -- and in other cases, due to conflicting rules and regulations, we MAY end up owing tax that seems very unfair).
Congress has been toying with the idea of a major tax-overhaul. Whenever that happens -- sooner or later -- we'd like it to include RESIDENCE-based Taxation (RBT) instead of CBT.
Under Residence-based Taxation, not only would we no longer be required to file U.S. tax returns (unless we had U.S. income), but changing to RBT would eliminate the need for FATCA filing and thus would relieve Americans abroad of hassles over getting (or retaining) bank accounts.
Come learn about these issues (or read here). Then we'll be calling Congress (bring your cell phone). We'll have scripts available you can follow if you wish, for writing emails or postcards as well as calling.
The Steering Committee will be meeting at 5:30 before the Call Storm, and you're welcome to join us for that if you want to help us plan other events throughout the summer.
RSVP to Carry by email or phone required if coming for the pre-meeting (or if you need directions).
