Hello and Welcome to Democrats Abroad Brazil!
We’re one of 48 country committees that comprise Democrats Abroad, the official Democratic Party arm for more than 9 million Americans living outside of the United States.
If you’re an American citizen residing in Brazil (including those of you who may have dual citizenship and have even spent the better part of your life here), are 18 years of age on or before the date of the next federal election, you have the right to vote in U.S. state and federal elections.

The aim of Democrats Abroad is to provide Americans abroad a Democratic voice in our government and elect Democratic candidates by mobilizing the overseas vote. Voting overseas (especially depending on your state) may seem at times cumbersome and downright frustrating. Then there’s the mystery as to whether your vote was actually received and/or tabulated, and that’s not even considering the campaign currently underway by some states to make mail-in and absentee voting even more trying!
DABR is here not only to assist with the voter registration process through VoteFromAbroad.org, we can also provide other information, individual assistance and tools to help you cast your absentee ballots from Brazil.
But Democrats Abroad Brazil is much more than this!
We provide a channel of communication, a social link if you will, for Americans living in Brazil around issues of the day concerning U.S. federal and state governmental policies, voting, legislative activity, and ideas or movements important to the body politic “back home,” as well as those faced by U.S. expats living in Brazil (e.g. concerning taxation, retirement, healthcare, etc.)
Some of our activity is organized around global caucuses or task forces of particular interest to members:
All caucuses and task forces are open for all members to join: Caucus and Task Force Info
We organize lectures, debates, and other events on political topics, often with guest speakers.
Then there’s the social side of gathering (virtually or physically) with other American internationals, like yourself, discussing whatever the topic du jour may be, exchanging ideas, opinions, possible solutions to situations in and around expat life as an American (or dual citizen) here in Brazil.
Stakes in the November 2022 midterm elections could not be higher. Every vote, including every overseas vote, can and will - as we saw in 2020 - make a difference!
The Biden-Harris Build Back Better agenda addressing challenges as diverse as climate change, guns and police reform, infrastructure (human and physical), healthcare, voting rights, race relations, immigration reform, equality and justice for all, even DEMOCRACY itself … they’re all on the executive, legislative, and judicial branch “tables” in today’s America.
Beating the post-Presidential win midterm jinx, maintaining our control of the House, increasing our balance in the Senate and securing more gubernatorial seats from elections in 36 states and 3 territories…so much is on the line come November 2022!
