  • DA Madrid attends Human Rights Resistance Conference

Last Thursday December 10th, International Human Rights Day, Christina Samson (Treasurer DA Madrid), Revé Fisher (Secretary DA Madrid) and Samuel Mattern (Chair DA Madrid) had the honor of attending an event organized by Human Rights Resistance, the Salvador Allende Association, ASESP and the magazine Incognita.

We were thrilled to see the passion and effort these students poured into the event, with several expert guest speakers addressing issues such as Sustainable Development, Freedom of the Press, LGTBI Rights and the history of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

This conference also encouraged us to continue with our own work through DA, with the knowledge that our world will be left to young people who will soon take the lead with professionalism, empathy and commitment, taking care of both our planet and its most vulnerable collectives.

    @hrresistance, thank you and bravo!

  • DA Spain: Let's Talk About Immigration Issues!

    Dear DA members and friends:

After winning the presidential election, and while still pouring our efforts into the Georgia race, DA Madrid is pleased to invite all DA Spain members and friends to our next event, focused on immigration-related issues.

    When: December 17th, 7PM
    Where: Online, Zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88492778469

We will discuss the situation of immigrants and refugees on both sides of the Atlantic, with guest speakers sharing their own personal experience in collaborating with these collectives, both back home and in our adopted country. A forum will also be provided for reflection and to discuss how, from our unique perspective living abroad, we can best contribute our efforts as Democrats to make the world a better, fairer place for all.

We are looking forward to exchanging thoughts with you, our community members.

To prepare for this meeting, we recommend:

-Watch Immigration Nation (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_xVKy58Yuw), available on Netflix
-Reflect on the question: “What is the difference between an expat and an immigrant?”

We ask that you please RSVP; it’s a huge help with our organizational tasks.

Note: To participate in the discussion, you must type “hand up” in the chat box. A moderator will call on you to speak based on your order in the queue.
If you have already spoken once, preference will be given to those who have not yet had the chance to speak.
