Join Our Resistance Quilt Project—Make Art, Make Change!
We’re excited to invite you to a unique and heartfelt community project: the Democrats Abroad Italy RESISTANCE QUILT!
What is the Resistance Quilt?
It’s a tapestry created together, stitch by stitch, story by story, and heart by heart—by you! When you RSVP to this event, we’ll provide you with the unique design and step-by-step instructions. All you need is a spirit of creativity and a passion for democracy. You can craft a square by yourself, or make it a gathering with friends—either way, your voice will become a part of something bigger.
Why a Quilt?
Throughout history, quilting has united and empowered communities during difficult times. The AIDS Memorial Quilt honored loved ones and helped transform public attitudes, while “Freedom Quilts” guided enslaved people to safety along the Underground Railroad. Women of the U.S. suffrage movement stitched banners and quilts to raise awareness and funds. Quilting is a form of resistance, of remembrance, and of hope.
Where does your work go?
When all our quilt patches come together as one, the finished quilt will be auctioned to support Democrats Abroad Italy’s vital voter registration and assistance initiatives for U.S. citizens abroad. Your creativity won’t just warm hearts—it will build democracy.
