Welcome to a quiet celebration and affirmation of human rights, grounded in love -- the essence of Valentine’s Day.
On Saturday, February 14, Democrats Abroad is organizing a gathering with a dual purpose:
to hold a vigil in remembrance of those who have lost their lives as a result of state-enabled violence, and
to continue expressing peaceful resistance to the ongoing harms associated with the Trump administration.
The vigil will take place at Stortorget in Malmö between 1 and 2 PM, where we will meet in front of the statue of King Gustav Adolf. Each attendee will be given a candle for an initial period of quiet reflection.
After the silent vigil, there will be an opportunity for those who wish to share their thoughts and feelings about the current situation in the United States. There is, of course, no obligation to speak. Nor is there any requirement to be American or a Democrat in order to attend.
All who stand for love, human rights, and human decency are welcome.
We look forward to seeing you there.
