Solidarity Sundays – Pilot session: Policing and Racial Justice in America

Democrats Abroad South Africa (DASA) encourages members to join us for our pilot Solidarity Sundays action session: Policing and Racial Justice in America

Our goal is to move from issues to action!

Sunday 2 May
19:30 – 20:30

We’ll propose immediate actions we can take while we’re together on the call and invite members to share ideas on what actions we as DASA and as individuals can and should take to address this issue in the days ahead.

Our guest speaker will be Flor Gressel, a retired officer in the San Francisco Bay area and sister of DASA member Ricardo Gressel.

The George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, sponsored by Rep Karen Bass was recently passed in the House and needs our support in the Senate. Senator Cory Booker is leading efforts in support of the legislation in the Senate. Contacting our Senators to encourage them to move forward on negotiations and pass the Act is one step we can take. President Biden and Vice President Harris, who was involved in developing the bill, are both encouraging support for the legislation. Democrats Abroad is encouraging members to support the legislation.

We are sharing resources on Policing and Racial Justice in America on our Facebook page and will share a resource list at the event. The issue is complex and requires an ongoing multidimensional response. We can’t sit back, we each need to act!
