Call for nominations ~ Help create a community by becoming a leader in the Winnipeg Chapter!

The attack on the U.S. Capitol Building on January 6th reminded us that democracy is fragile and our work to protect and strengthen it is more important than ever, and we invite you to share in shaping the future of America.

An important next step for the Winnipeg Chapter is to
elect our Board for the 2021-2023 term.

We are very grateful to Ben Miller for his leadership and efforts in 2020, motivating members of the Winnipeg Chapter to engage in several of Canada’s get out the vote initiatives, with the support of DR. MJ Willard. They were able to engage with many members to assist in delivering a record voter turnout from Americans living in Canada.

But DemsAbroad Canada is at a decision point of whether or not the Winnipeg chapter, which has several hundred members, can continue to be an ongoing entity…we need your help!

You may serve a leadership role from anywhere in the chapter, which is much larger than its name implies. Whether you live in Winnipeg, Brandon, Flin Flon, or anywhere in Manitoba, there’s a spot for you. As the Nominations and Elections Committee, we invite you to learn about the Board positions, and to consider a nomination.

You do not need to know the ins and outs of Democrats Abroad to be in chapter leadership. We’re a 100% volunteer organization - everyone in elected office at the chapter and national levels is continuously learning new things about the organization. Plus you’ll have support from the Canada country committee and thirteen other chapters so you’re not operating on your own.

Eligibility: American citizens residing in Canada, legal voting age, a member in good standing of the Democrats Abroad Canada – Winnipeg chapter, and willing and able to handle the duties while adhering to the principles of the Democratic Party of the United States.

Terms are two (2) years. As a Board member you will be expected to actively participate in the management of the Chapter, including attendance at monthly board meetings, either in-person or virtually.

Please refer to the Democrats Abroad Canada Bylaws for more details.
