HR 1 aims to take the burden off voters, and passed the House with unanimous Democratic support. It‘s a broadly popular bill but Republicans have decided that anything that makes it easier for all people to vote is a nonstarter for them. Solidarity Sundays is getting behind voter protection. We are discussing the FOR THE PEOPLE ACT in detail, and how we can help get it passed in the Senate. 👊
Earth Day 2021 is a perfect day to review the first 100 days of the Biden Harris Administration. Join us to discuss its accomplishments, shortcomings, and plans for more progress. proDA members will offer bullet points on select topics with a special focus on infrastructure and climate change policy. Then we will discuss. If you can hear that old climate clock tick, tock, tickin', its time to sign up and see what we can do to ensure a future we can really believe in!
The start time is 1:00 EDT for those who will be joining from other time zones.
Professor Linda Scott will join us April 13th @ 12pm EST/6pmCET
To discuss the research behind the findings in her recently-published book:
“The Double X Economy: The Epic Potential of Empowering Women."
Internationally renowned expert on women's economic development and Emeritus DP World Professor for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Oxford. Professor Linda Scott will join us to discuss the research behind the findings in her recently-published book: “The Double X Economy: The Epic Potential of Empowering Women.” Her analysis of international gender data shows the reality of a distinctive pattern of economic inequality which, when combined with cultural impediments, forms the shadow economy unique to women, the “Double X Economy.” To quote Melinda Gates:
“Linda Scott shines a light on women's essential and often invisible contributions to our global economy--while combining insight, analysis, and interdisciplinary data to make a compelling and actionable case for unleashing women's economic power." --Melinda Gates, author of The Moment of Lift: How Empowering Women Changes the World
Linda gives us a powerful argument going forward: “…equal economic treatment for women would put a stop to some of the world’s costliest evils, while building prosperity for everyone.” And she is looking to recruit everyone to the cause of women’s economic inclusion!
Hello! The Democrats Abroad Austria in Vorarlberg group is currently looking for new members so we can get geared up for the upcoming 2022 elections. You can be involved at whatever level you feel comfortable with, and if you just want to come and meet some other Americans, that’s fine too!
So with great optimism, we’re planning an outdoor picnic social for Friday, April 23rd, at the Badestrand in Lustenau, and we would love for you to join us! Here are the details:
Democrats Abroad Vorarlberg Picnic
Friday, April 23, 2021
16:00 - 19:30 (come when you can!)
Please RSVP here
Questions? Send an email to: [email protected]
Please do a COVID test before you come. A self-test is fine–we're just looking out for each other!
The Badestrand is very accessible by bike, however there is also a parking lot by the Gasthaus am Rohr. Once there, go over the dam to the grass by the river and that’s where you’ll find us.
To cut down on trash, we encourage you to bring your own plate and utensils,
but we’ll also have some extras there in case you forget.
If you can’t make it due to the pandemic or whatever else,
send me an email anyways and we’ll keep you in the loop!
And don’t forget to check out our group on Facebook. There you’ll find out what’s shakin’ in U.S. politics as well as our future events. Thanks for your time and we’re looking forward to meeting you soon!
