Black Caucus Lunch in Heidelberg

Posted on Events by Nancy Schimkat · December 13, 2019 6:29 AM · 2 reactions

thumbnail.png

Please join Germany Black Caucus Chair, Derek Bembry, and International Black Caucus Chair Angela Fobbs for lunch at Zum Achter. We had originally planned a brunch, but with the amount of interest, and the addition of a presentation, we've had to change venues (and therefore meals).

This lunch is a chance for you to meet Derek and Angela, and learn about what the Black Caucus is doing in Germany, especially for the 2020 election. Derek's presentation will focus primarily on increasing voter turnout by focusing on youth and black voters. He will point out the opportunity in each voter segment as well as issues that appeal to both.

Zum Achter is located just over the Neckar from Bismarckplatz. Public transportation access is good, Bismarckplatz is only ~5 mins by foot. Also, the bus stop Bergstraße is directly in front of the building (bus line 34). If you’re driving, the parking garage Parkhaus Brückenkopf Neuenheim is adjacent to the restaurant.

Mannheim Reading Group!

Posted on Events by Nancy Schimkat · December 10, 2019 10:23 AM · 3 reactions

A reading group among Democrats Abroad members has taken off in the Mannheim/Ludwigshafen area! The first, and very interesting, meeting was in Mannheim, and this one will be in Ludwigshafen so as to be fair about the distance for those people living on the Pfalz side of the river. We will probably switch back and forth.
The next book up for discussion is Outliers, by M. Gladwell. If you are interested in joining us, please RSVP by sending an email to heidelberg@democratsabroad.org

Join us at Vogt's Bierexpress as Democrats Abroad Berlin gears up for the 2020 election! Get to know other Democrats in your area, register to vote, talk politics, and learn about phone banking and other ways to get involved in upcoming elections.

This is the first Kiez meeting in Kreuzberg's Mehringdamm area, so come to meet your neighbors.

Berlin's a big place, so Democrats Abroad Kiez Captains are helping to bring together Americans, get out the vote, and organize in different neighborhoods. These Kiez meetups are intended for people who live or work in the area. Don't see one for your neighborhood yet? Get in touch: chair@demsinberlin.de

It's not required, but RSVP here so we have a rough idea of how many people to expect!

You can help out by sharing this event with your American friends and acquaintances in Berlin! As always, we welcome new faces, even if you've never attended a meeting or an event before.
