🇩🇪 Turning Germany Blue - Volunteer with DAG 🇺🇸
We're building a grassroots organization of American Democrats all over Germany in order to prepare for the 2020 elections and sustain the momentum necessary to protect and improve our democracy. Democrats Abroad is an organization run entirely by volunteers, and the time you give, in any amount, contributes to meaningful progress. Below you'll find opportunities to join our volunteer community at the national and local level. Whether you have a specific skill set, an area of expertise, or are just looking for any way to get involved, your help is welcome and very much appreciated.Â

Black Caucus Lunch in Heidelberg
Please join Germany Black Caucus Chair, Derek Bembry, and International Black Caucus Chair Angela Fobbs for lunch at Zum Achter. We had originally planned a brunch, but with the amount of interest, and the addition of a presentation, we've had to change venues (and therefore meals).
This lunch is a chance for you to meet Derek and Angela, and learn about what the Black Caucus is doing in Germany, especially for the 2020 election. Derek's presentation will focus primarily on increasing voter turnout by focusing on youth and black voters. He will point out the opportunity in each voter segment as well as issues that appeal to both.
Â
Zum Achter is located just over the Neckar from Bismarckplatz. Public transportation access is good, Bismarckplatz is only ~5 mins by foot. Also, the bus stop Bergstraße is directly in front of the building (bus line 34). If you’re driving, the parking garage Parkhaus Brückenkopf Neuenheim is adjacent to the restaurant.
Göttingen Holiday Get-Together
We’ll meet for an hour at the Café Inti and those who still have the time; we can all go to the Göttingen Christmas Market for mulled wine, etc. At the informal meeting we can exchange ideas about the Democratic candidates, the Global Primary in Göttingen and Kassel, the next democratic debates, the coming General Meeting in Munich, interested volunteers (we need some), ideas for coming events, etc. Thanks to all participants at the events and meetings!!!
Heidelberg Chapter January 2020 Kick Off Meeting!
Help us kick off 2020 as we take a look at our plans to Get Out The Vote (GOTV) in 2020 and discuss some of the pressing issues facing voters and the Democratic Party. IMPORTANT NOTE! Due to room scheduling, our meeting will be on SATURDAY this time. Our meetings are an informal get together, starting with informal discussion and drinks, then dinner, with a brief look at the state of our Heidelberg Chapter followed by guided political discussion. If you haven't joined us before, come on by and see what's going on!
Mannheim Reading Group!
A reading group among Democrats Abroad members has taken off in the Mannheim/Ludwigshafen area! The first, and very interesting, meeting was in Mannheim, and this one will be in Ludwigshafen so as to be fair about the distance for those people living on the Pfalz side of the river. We will probably switch back and forth.
The next book up for discussion is Outliers, by M. Gladwell. If you are interested in joining us, please RSVP by sending an email to heidelberg@democratsabroad.org
