April 2022 Newsletter - April is Earth Month!
Welcome to Democrats Abroad first Environment & Climate Crisis Council (ECCC) Newsletter! We are delighted to share interesting events within DA related to the environment and climate, offer avenues for climate activism and provide periodic analysis of current developments, policies, and legislation that address the existential challenges facing our planet today.
The stakes could not be higher! And now, with conflict raging in Europe, millions of people displaced, and energy supplies severely disrupted, the prospects for reaching the world climate goals are set further in jeopardy. Raising your voices now and fighting for the Democratic agenda is critical to meeting these challenges, not just for American lives but for those the world over.
For a little background, our new Council advocates for systemic climate and environmental policies and solutions within the global Democratic community. We aim to connect voter engagement with efforts to address climate change mitigation and adaptation, with a focus on environmental justice. The ECCC aspires to amplify the voices and expertise of those disproportionately harmed by environmental threats and to advocate for policies and candidates that address historical injustices that exacerbate environmental injury. As such, our Council maintains an intersectional approach in our endeavors. Working in tandem with all other DA caucuses is vital, as their interests conjoin with the ECCC's.
