The Transformation of the Asian American Vote

The Transformation of the Asian American Vote: A Discussion with Prof. Catherine Liu

DAUK Policy Network (PNR identities group) is pleased to present Professor Catherine Liu of UC Irvine on “Class AND Race: Asian Americans by the Numbers: The Political Transformation of an American Demographic.”

Prof. Liu has analyzed the shift in the Asian American vote from the Republican Party during the Reagan Era to the Democratic Party of the 2000s. She examines this change from different perspectives, focusing on how Asian American economic and class interests, intertwined with recent immigrant experiences, provide a unique and powerful perspective on class, race and identity politics. She will highlight how the group's salient features and interests could reshape American progressivism.
