Protect Our Votes!
PLEASE TAKE ACTION TODAY TO SAVE THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE. WE NEED TO PROTECT OUR VOTES!The United States Postal Service (USPS) is in a dire situation. According to the Postmaster General, between June and September of this year the USPS will run out of money and will be forced to cease operations. This, only months ahead of the November General Election.
Needless to say, without a functioning postal service, our votes from abroad will be effectively suppressed.
The USPS has had operating issues for over a decade. However, the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic have gravely exacerbated the issue of decreased volumes that has plagued the agency over the past years.
In this critical election year where we need every vote to be counted, we cannot standby and allow the next Coronavirus stimulus bill to exclude full funding and protection for the USPS and the vote-by-mail ballots sent by overseas voters.

Save the USPS! Day of Action
DAY OF ACTION TUESDAY Nancy Pelosi called on members of Congress to “participate in a Day of Action on Tuesday by appearing at a Post Office in their districts for a press event” in order to “save the Postal Service,” saying, “In a time of a pandemic, the Postal Service is Election Central.”
Even though we are not in the U.S., we can still help Speaker Pelosi by writing emailing/calling our representatives and senators and letting them know that downscaling postal services is not tolerable. We cannot allow our voting right to mailing back ballots to be compromised. Hauling away mail boxes and canceling collection services means that those who depend on these services for their medical prescriptions, Social Security checks, and contact with the outside world, especially during this pandemic, will be deprived of a lifeline. They, along with U.S. citizens who live abroad, will be disenfranchised because they are not guaranteed that their ballots will arrive on time to be counted by those states who only allow them to be mailed back by postal mail.(Battleground states where absentee voters must use postal mail to return their ballots: GA, IA, KY, MI, MN, OH, PA, TX, and WI.)

Description: Russian interference, hacking the electoral system, winning an election without popular vote, a highly complicated registration process, and the failure to make Election Day a national holiday have led to one of the lowest voter participation rates in the developed world.
Is the U.S. voting system in need of a fundamental update? Political scientist David Kimball will address efforts to reform the complicated election rules in the U.S. He will take a look at efforts to change the Electoral College in presidential elections and a new way to draw legislative districts. His talk further includes procedures to increase voter participation as well as efforts to make voting more convenient and to reduce fraud. David Kimball will further illustrate new voting technology and plans to make voting systems more secure from cyber threats.
Speaker:
David Kimball is a Professor at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. He received his Ph.D. in 1997 from Ohio State University (Political Science). He has extensively published on the U.S. election system, its processes and challenges.
