The Democrats Abroad Taxation Task Force (TTF) monitors relevant Congressional hearings to help ensure the interests of Americans living abroad are considered in the development of tax and financial-related policy. We need a dedicated volunteer(s) to:

  1.   Monitor Congressional Committee websites for upcoming hearings for the House Ways & Means, Senate Finance, Senate Banking, House Finance, Senate & House Budget, Senate Foreign Relations, House Foreign Affairs, and House & Senate Judiciary. 2. Notify the TTF policy team when a new hearing is scheduled and provide agenda or other information made available, hearing date and time, and due dates for statements.
  3. Coordinate with the policy team on priority of the topic and decide whether to submit a Statement for the Record in advance, questions to friendly legislators to ask at the hearing, or a Statement for the Record after the hearing.
  4. Optional task. Help with watching the hearing live or reviewing recordings of hearings to assess if additional issues or opportunities are presented that may impact Americans living abroad, then flag these to the TTF team.
  5. Coordinate with the TTF policy team to submit a Statement for the Record. Submit the document by email or uploading to the Committee website per committee instructions. Note: this position does not write the Statements; other volunteer technical experts handle that part. Questions to legislators are handled by the Legislative Liaison Team.
