This month, the Candidate Information Team is excited to give the Global Women’s Caucus and all of DA a hint about an exciting upcoming series of events– our Candidate Virtual Town Halls! The team has been working behind the scenes to connect with campaigns across the U.S. to bring these fabulous women virtually to your screen. Keep an eye on your inboxes and our social media pages to hear more about the candidates who will be joining us and how to attend these virtual events. 

Separately, our Women to Win series features two Iowans this month: Theresa Greenfield is running to represent Iowa in the Senate, and Rita Hart is running to serve Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District in the House.

After winning her primary on June 2, Theresa Greenfield is looking to unseat Republican Joni Ernst in the U.S. Senate. Theresa grew up on her family’s farm. She endured great hardship, including the death of her husband and reliance on Social Security, to get where she is today: a successful community planner and real estate developer. Theresa is the candidate with the life experience and grit to mobilize rural voters, a key component of the electorate. This battleground election presents an important opportunity to flip a Senate seat Blue, and swing the balance of power in Democrats’ favor. Meanwhile, Rita Hart is running for an open seat in IA-02, hoping to replace soon-to-be retired Democrat Dave Loebsack in this battleground race. Rita is a former teacher, Iowa State senator, and nominee for Iowa’s Lt. Governor. Rita’s win would prove Democrats’ ability to reach and maintain rural voters, a crucial community both parties are competing to mobilize. Having grown up on a family farm and taught in a small rural school herself, Rita has the roots and experience necessary to fight for the interests of her constituents. She is determined not only to keep this seat Blue, but to work across the aisle and talk about the issues we face in a constructive way.
