DAN January 2024 Newsletter

Happy Blue New Year!

2024 is a watershed election year for all Americans. The future of the presidency, the Congress and the federal courts, indeed American democracy itself, hangs in the balance.

We have the chance to reshape the narrative but only if we actively campaign and vote. You must request your ballot every year to protect your vote: www.votefromabroad.org

Ask for your ballot to be sent to you by email. It only takes a few minutes, and you’ll be signed up for EVERY election you’re eligible to vote in throughout 2024.

It’s impossible to overstate the critical importance of the November 5 election. Just last week, the entire editorial board of The New York Times sounded the alarm about the consequences of another

And the editors of The Atlantic devoted its entire January/February issue to what a second Trump term would look like. It’s not pretty: https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2024/01/warning-second-trump-term/676117/

DA will have voting assistance Zoom rooms available throughout 2024. This weekend, you can find, 24 hour assistance through Sunday, voting assistance here: https://qrco.de/bbh0zg

The Chair of DAN, Christina Skovsgaard, is also a certified voting assistant officer and can be available for voter assistance as needed. Contact: [email protected]

Film night: Thursday, January 18, 2024, 7 pm – DAN Film Night@Deichman, Disen Room (4th floor), Anne-Cath. Vestlys plass 1, 0150 Oslo. We will screen the documentary Amend: The Fight for America, Episode 6: Promise (59 min), which focuses on the 14th amendment to the Constitution and the history and effects of immigration and immigration policy in the U.S. Given the salience of immigration as an enduring issue in the 2024 elections, we will discuss the documentary and its implications after the screening.   Those who want to chat longer can find refreshments at the bar Centropa on the first floor.
