Our Chair, Leah Griesmann, has resigned from the board due to an opportunity that is taking her to China! We were lucky to have Leah at the helm for a short time, and we hope she will remain in contact with us.

Fortunately, we have good news that follows on that. Gaby Moreno, our former Chapter secretary, has taken the helm as of January and is now learning the ropes of chairing our DA Chapter. She spoke about her plans for DA GDL at our March 9th meeting.

To top off the good news, Anne Senter stepped up in February to take over the Secretary position. Both Gaby and Anne were voted in unanimously by our board at our February meeting. We are currently asking our members to vote online to approve this decision. (Please check your email if you are a member.)

Finally, we are currently seeking a new Treasurer to replace Will Prescott, who is doing so much volunteering in DA Global that he would like to pass the baton. Please contact Gaby Moreno at [email protected] if you have a couple hours a week that you could use to help us in this way. 

Will explains, about this position: “Since all of the money handling moved to a global account a couple of years ago, the job of local treasurers has gotten a lot easier, no bank accounts to maintain, no money to handle. The Mexico National Treasurer informs the Chapter Treasurer of activity. The local Treasurer job is mostly just to check it for accuracy, keep the Board informed of the state of finances, and advise the Chair and Board on financial matters.” He says it really only takes about one half an hour to prepare before each Board meeting, and maybe 2 hours once a year “to close out one year and set up the next.”

2024 trae cambios a nuestro consejo ejecutivo

 

Nuestra presidenta, Leah Griesmann, renunció al consejo ejecutivo debido a una oportunidad que la lleva a China. Tuvimos suerte de tener a Leah al mando por un corto tiempo y esperamos que permanezca en contacto con nosotros.

 

Afortunadamente, tenemos buenas noticias al respecto. Gaby Moreno, nuestra ex secretaria del Capítulo, tomó el mando a partir de enero y ahora está aprendiendo cómo presidir. Habló sobre sus planes para DA GDL en nuestra reunión del 9 de marzo.

 

Para colmo de buenas noticias, Anne Senter asumió en febrero el puesto de Secretaria. Tanto Gaby como Anne fueron votadas unánimemente por nuestro consejo ejecutivo en nuestra junta de febrero. Actualmente los miembros del Capítulo son llamados a votar en línea para aprobar esta decisión. (Por favor revise su correo electrónico si es miembro).

 

Finalmente, actualmente estamos buscando un nuevo Tesorero para reemplazar a Will Prescott, quien hace bastante trabajo voluntario en DA Global y ahora busca pasar esta labor a un nuevo voluntario. Will explica sobre este puesto: “Desde que todo el manejo del dinero se trasladó a una cuenta global hace un par de años, el trabajo del tesorero local se ha vuelto mucho más fácil: no hay cuenta bancaria, ni dinero que manejar. El Tesorero Nacional de México informa al Tesorero del Capítulo de la actividad. El trabajo del Tesorero local es principalmente verificar su exactitud, mantener informado al consejo sobre el estado de las finanzas y asesorar al Presidente y al consejo sobre asuntos financieros”. Dice que en realidad sólo se necesita media hora de preparación antes de cada reunión del consejo, y tal vez dos horas una vez al año “para cerrar un año y preparar el siguiente”.
