Empowering Our Vote: A Keynote Gathering with Democrats Abroad Windsor

Democrats Abroad Windsor Meet & Greet: A Keynote Event in the “Saving Democracy” Series

In a pivotal moment for our democracy and with the 2024 election on the horizon, the importance of every vote has never been clearer. Michigan is set to play a decisive role, and as members of the Windsor/Essex community, we have an unprecedented opportunity to influence the outcome.

We are thrilled to announce a special Meet & Greet event featuring a distinguished panel of Democratic leaders

Windsor Meet & Greet Speakers                                                  Martha                      Steve                     Lavora              Michelle

Martha McDevitt-Pugh, International Chair of Democrats Abroad (Netherlands)

Steve Nardi, International Vice Chair of Democrats Abroad (Canada)

Lavora Barnes, Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party

Michelle Regalado Deatrick, Chair of the DNC Council on the Environment and Climate Crisis

This gathering is part of Democrats Abroad's impactful “Saving Democracy” series. Our speakers will share their insights and strategies on mobilizing the abroad vote and pinpoint how we, especially those with ties to Michigan, can significantly impact the coming election.

The 2024 election will be a numbers game, and that’s where Democrats Abroad members make the difference in close elections. Here are some specific examples of where votes from abroad delivered the numerical difference of victory:

2008 MN Senate Al Frankin by 312 votes Abroad votes: 11,460
2020 GA Senate Abroad votes elevated Jon Ossoff into a run-off and
eventual win
Abroad votes: 18,475
2020 GA President Joe Biden by 11,779 votes Abroad votes: 18,475
2020 AZ President Joe Biden by 10,457 votes  Abroad votes: 18,527
2022 AZ Attorney General Kris Mayes by 202 votes Abroad votes: 6,913

With nearly 30% of Windsor/Essex residents being U.S.-born and more than 50% of our chapter members casting votes in Michigan, our collective action can steer the direction of American politics. This event is not just a chance to meet fellow Americans abroad but a call to action for all of us who understand the stakes of the 2024 election.

Join us to learn about the critical role we play in shaping the future of democracy. Let’s come together to ensure our voices are heard, and our votes count more than ever before.

Refreshments will be provided, and an opportunity for Q&A will follow the presentations.

Please RSVP to secure your spot.

We look forward to seeing you there and standing united in our effort to safeguard democracy.

Together, we can make a difference. Don’t miss this chance to be part of the movement.
