Stop Budget Reconciliation 3.0

Trump Republicans are rushing a third budget reconciliation package through the House before the August recess.

The proposal would provide $95 billion in new spending, including:

  • $60 billion for Trump's ongoing, unauthorized war with Iran
  • $13 billion for intelligence activities related to the conflict
  • $12 billion in farm assistance to address costs driven by the war
  • $10 billion that could be used to advance provisions of the SAVE America Act, which would make it significantly harder for millions of eligible U.S. citizens, including nearly all citizens living abroad, to vote.

The package would add more than $100 billion to the national deficit without any offsets, while funding controversial policies through the budget reconciliation process, limiting debate and amendments.

A House floor vote is expected sometime this week (the week of July 20th).

Call Script

Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME], and I'm a constituent voting in [CITY/STATE].

I'm calling to urge Representative [NAME] to vote NO on the third budget reconciliation bill.

This legislation would fund an unauthorized war with Iran, could be used to advance the anti-voter SAVE America Act, and adds more than $100 billion to the national debt without proper debate.

Congress should not use the reconciliation process to push through major decisions about war and voting rights.

What Dem Leaders are Saying

“You might think, given that the top issue in the 2024 election was affordability, and that the top issue today is affordability, you might think the majority would want to spend time in a reconciliation bill addressing the number one issue on voters' minds.

I can tell you, 47 pages in their bill, 6,560 words, and not one word on bringing down costs for the American people. Not one word. Instead, we have tens of billions of dollars for the most unpopular war in American history.”

- Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee

“What Republicans are doing, since they were once again neutered on the Floor of the House of Representatives, is to advance an America Last budget resolution that will actually provide $60 billion in additional taxpayer money for Donald Trump's reckless and costly war of choice in the Middle East that has left Iran in a stronger position than they were in before this reckless war started and the American people in a weaker position economically as a result of high gas prices. And yet, Republicans continue to double and triple down on Operation Epic Failure. The war in Iran has been a disaster for the American people, and House Democrats will strongly oppose their America Last budget resolution and fight to actually restore the devastating cuts to Medicaid and to nutritional assistance that Republicans jammed down the throats of the American people with their One Big Ugly Bill last year.”

- Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08), House Democratic Leader
