The Environmental Alarmist: A Political Satire
by DA author Michael Contarino
In a not-so-distant future, in a world ravaged by climate change and invasive pests, humanity still chooses self-deception over sacrifice.  When a sly US Senator and a jaded propagandist concoct a longshot and cynically opportunistic "environmentalist" campaign for the Presidency, it looks like just more of the old, phony politics. But then things start to get real. And hilarious. And hopeful. Because the politician and the propagandist start to care about the planet. As they begin telling voters the truth, they also stop lying to themselves.

“…a hilarious satire…”  Bill Richardson, former US Presidential candidate, US Energy Secretary, and Governor of  New Mexico

“Who says there’s nothing funny about environmental collapse?” Paul Begala, former chief political strategist for Bill Clinton and Al Gore

Michael writes political satire and historical fiction.  He taught political science at several universities in Italy, UK, Switzerland and the US, and he was a speechwriter and senior foreign policy adviser to a US presidential candidate.  Michael is a DA member in Basel, Switzerland.

Romney: A Reckoning
McKay Coppins

Romney does not hold back in a 'biography with much to say about the collapse of Republican values' (the Guardian). '“A very large portion of my party,” he told me one day, “really doesn’t believe in the Constitution.” He’d realized this only recently, he said. What role had the members of the mainstream establishment—people like him, the reasonable Republicans—played in allowing the rot on the right to fester?' (Coppins in The Atlantic)

Prequel: An American Fight Against Fascism
Rachel Maddow

The MSNBC host 'dives deep into a forgotten history of a Nazi campaign waged on the streets of America — and the fifth column that could have cost the Allies the war. The parallels to today are bone-chilling. Prequel is a revealing account of exactly how it can happen here, and just how close we came to the brink just 80 years ago.' (Rolling Stone)
