Walk With Us, Red Cloister, Brussels

The Red Cloister at sunset

Come out for a walk to admire the returning spring foliage and learn about the former Augustinian Priory that was originally founded in 1367. Over the years, it hosted Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, Isabella of Spain, and became home to a few famous Belgian artists. The most recent restoration works only just finished in May, 2022.

We’ll meet at 2PM in front of the Centre d’Art de Rouge-Cloître (on the side with the fountain). From there, we’ll walk around the grounds and through the adjacent Sonian Forest. For anyone who wants a snack or a drink we can stop at Maison du Prieur, the brasserie on the grounds.

To arrive by public transportation the closest stop is Herrmann-Debroux for metro (Line 5) and tram (Line 8). It’s a 15-20 minute walk from there. For anyone driving there is parking available on Chaussée de Wavre.
