Welcome to Democrats Abroad Chiang Mai and Other Northern Provinces!
We are delighted to announce a reinvigorated Chapter with newly elected officers ready to serve the needs and interests of American Democrats living abroad. We are a chapter of DA Thailand, the official country committee for US Democrats living in Thailand.
On 15 November, 20 dedicated local members of Democrats Abroad gathered to reunite and reorganize in preparation for the 2016 elections and beyond. First among business was the election of new officers who are as follows:
Chair: Ms. Shana Kongmun
Vice-Chairs: Mr. Richard Johnson and Mr. Roger Lindley
Secretary: Ms. Brenda Joyce
Treasurer: Maria Scandien (incumbent)
Discussions were held regarding how best to promote Democrats Abroad in Chiang Mai including creation of a FaceBook page (coming soon), providing regular updates of news and events of the Chapter portion of the Democrats Abroad website, the hosting and promotion of “Votefromabroad.com” activities in various locations to gain maximum attention. DA Chiang Mai will maintain a regular presence at various expat club meetings and create opportunities for group viewing of the Democratic Debates, movie nights, houses parties and other informal gatherings to continue to strengthen our chapter.
The new officers take this opportunity to give special thanks to Ms. Gary Suwannarat, DNC Member, Democrats Abroad Thailand and Ms. Martha Butt who took responsibility for gathering candidates for officer nominations.
Watch this space for upcoming announcements of meetings and events - we will be planning events throughout the year, and we encourage anyone interested in participating or who may have questions to contact us. We will soon be announcing the Global Presidential primary elections which will occur in March 2016.
We look forward to a very busy year ahead!
Chair's Name, Ms. Shana Kongmun

Time for the Annual General Meeting!
We will need to re-elect new officers as several people are leaving Chiang Mai or won't be in the country for a period of time. We need nominees for Vice- Chair and Secretary as both of these posts are open and if someone is interested in taking over the chairmanship please let us know as that role may be opening up.
The meeting is Sunday, February 26 at Old Chiang Mai, tea and coffee will be served. Please come and give us your ideas on actions we can take to combat the frightening changes going on in the United States.
