It's an exciting time to serve Democrats Abroad! With your help, we will help flip the House, keep the Senate Democratic and elect a Democratic President in 2024.
The office of Chair will be acclaimed with Steve Shard as the only candidate. Below is his candidate statement.
I am a small business owner. I moved to the US from Canada in 1993 and was struck by seeing people who clearly needed better healthcare. I have lived in Gary Indiana, Virginia Beach, and Denver Colorado. In 2003 I became active in protesting against torture and senseless war.
I was appointed to the Atlantic chapter board in 2021 to fill a vacancy. I believe that we Americans abroad can make a difference by reaching many other Americans abroad who are not currently voting. I welcome other Atlantic chapter members who would like to serve on the board in any capacity.
Nominations (or self nominations) will be accepted from the membership at the AGM for the remaining positions. We are seeking dedicated people for the following offices: Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and Communications Secretary. Brief descriptions below. Secretary: The General Secretary shall record and file minutes of all meetings and shall keep all such files and administrative records of the organization.
Treasurer: The Treasurer shall manage the finances of the chapter, create and maintain financial reports, manage the DA-Atlantic bank account, and maintain such financial reports as may be required by law.
Communications Secretary: The Communications Secretary holds full responsibility for strategy and execution of all social media, advertising and media contacts plus reporting.
