UPDATE 5/12: Voting is now open for the 2025 DAJ Kanto Chapter Election. Members have two ways to vote:

  1. Fill out a digital ballot (if you access the digital ballot link from the email with the subject line "[BALLOT ENCLOSED] DAJ Kanto Chapter Election 2025", your membership number will be automatically filled in.
  2. Print and fill out a PDF Ballot, then take a scan or image of the completed ballot and email it to [email protected]

All ballots must be returned by Monday June 2nd 11:59pm Japan time.

The Nominations and Election Committee (NEC) for the 2025 Democrats Abroad Japan (DAJ) Kanto Chapter Election would like to share important information about the candidates for the 2025-2027 term, the ballot and voting process, and the ballot counting meeting.

Candidates

Thank you to all members who submitted nominations for Kanto officer candidates for the 2025–2027 term. We are pleased to announce the outcome of the nominations period, including any confirmed nominated candidate with candidate statement:

  • Kanto Chair

    • No candidate (write-in campaign encouraged)

  • Kanto Vice-Chair

    • No candidate (write-in campaign encouraged)

  • Kanto Secretary

  • Kanto Treasurer

    • No candidate - (write-in campaign encouraged)

For positions with no candidate (meaning no nomination was made during the nomination period and/or no candidates accepted the nomination), we welcome write-in candidates.

While only candidates nominated during the nomination period may appear on the ballot, there will be an option to write-in a candidate for each position on the ballot. Write-in candidates may also submit candidate statements (500 word maximum). Write-in candidate statements can be submitted to [email protected], and all candidate statements (including from nominated candidates and write-in candidates) can be viewed here.

Please note, if these positions remain unfilled after the election, DAJ Kanto may face challenges in operating. Particularly in the case of there being no Chair, another election will need to be held. To help avoid this, please consider becoming a write-in candidate—or encourage another member to do so—regardless of how long you've been involved.

Ballot Information

Ballots will be distributed electronically via email on Monday, May 12th. Please log into your DA account, navigate to your "Account Settings", and ensure you are opted into receiving emails from DA.
