"Good Trouble" – Public Reading & Cultural Hour In Hamburg
“Good Trouble” Rally in Hamburg Honoring U.S. Civil Rights Icon John Lewis
Hamburg, July 17th, 2025 -15:00-16.00, Magellan Terrace Harbor City
On July 17th, 2025, citizens in Hamburg will join voices across the United States and the world to honor the life and legacy of U.S. Congressman and civil rights icon John Lewis, through a peaceful public event celebrating his message of “Good Trouble.”
The one-hour gathering will include readings from Lewis’s speeches, live music, spoken word, and community reflection. The rally aims to uplift themes of justice, voting rights, solidarity, and the enduring power of peaceful protest.
Special guest Ron Williams, the renowned African American actor and singer currently performing in Hamburg, is supporting the event.
Organized by Elaine Thomas and members of the local Democrats Abroad-U.S. and global community, this event connects to a broader movement in the U.S. and abroad, inspired by Lewis’s final message:
“Ordinary people with extraordinary vision can redeem the soul of America by getting in good trouble, necessary trouble.”
All are welcome! Bring your voice, your presence, and your passion for justice.
