We made Good Trouble in Hamburg!

Our Good Trouble rally on Thursday was really moving. Thanks to Elaine Thomas for putting these performers together. And thank you Ron Williams, Gordon "Nappyg" Clay, Johnny Tune, Darrin LB, Jan Harrington, and Love Newkirk for your amazing performances. You really brought the essence of civil rights icons like John Lewis and Maya Angelou to life. And your voices lifted our spirits. Pam Cory and Laurie Cohen also did a reading of "The Hill We Climb" by Amanda Gorman. Susannah Parker Ewing was our DJ and helped tremendously with logistics.

We need to stand up against the current Administration, but it was good to take a moment to remember some of the best representatives of the United States in our history. I'm proud that John Lewis and I hail from the same land. I hope we can make more people think of people like him as "typical Americans" rather than the authoritarians that are currently in our government.

Here are a few photos of the event. Thanks also to everyone who came out!

The talent of the day.

Ron Williams really made the words of John Lewis come to life, and his songs honoring Martin Luther King were so moving.

The many faces of Elaine Thomas.

Jan Harrington led us in a verse of "This Little Light of Mine."

Gordon NappyG Clay made the sun come out with his powerful words.
