The Hamburg and Northern Germany chapter appeared with a GOTV stand on all three days of Christopher Street Day in Hamburg, August 2nd through the 4th. As always, it was our most successful event of the year. We spoke to Americans about registering to vote all day every day, and even more Germans promised to tell their American friends, or anyone with Ami accent they meet on the street, about VoteFromAbroad.org.
After the rapid changes in the Democratic presidential ticket, we had to improvise a bit with our swag -- at the time, we didn't know that Governor Walz would be the running mate. But we figured it out. "Kamala the Riveter" was a huge hit.
Jodi's cookies were also a hit, as always. Offering a cookie in exchange for a promise to tell friends about VoteFromAbroad invariably sealed the deal.
Here's Jodi modeling some of our newest t-shirt designs.
We had a pleasant surprise on the last day when Jason Chue, the US Consul General in Hamburg, said hello at the stand. He was in his Sunday civilian clothes, seeing the sights at CSD, and was especially interested in the one specifically American stand at the event. We've heard that he's a good people person, and now we can confirm.
Love is always in the air at CSD, and thanks to the renewed enthusiasm that has taken hold of the Democratic party, we felt a lot of love at our stand. Don't forget your promise to tell your friends about VoteFromAbroad.org -- we don't want to ask you to give that cookie back.
