I have been a Democrat as a voter since my first vote, for Mike Dukakis in 1988. As a graduate student, I co-founded Indiana University College Democrats with a friend and was a Democratic precinct chair in Bloomington, Indiana. As a College Democrat, I supported student loan reforms and other liberal causes. In 2008, I helped Democrats Abroad in New Zealand and Australia register and vote for Obama. I ran for Congress in 2011-2012 as a Democrat and advocated for Democratic HQ in South Bend, Indiana, to become handicap accessible. While I have supported the Green Party and Disability Party, my foundations remain as a liberal Democrat. President Biden reminded me why I support him and his party in 2022 by passing the Camp LeJeune Justice Act, which will compensate for my mother's wrongful death and my own injuries, since I was born at Camp LeJeune and poisoned there in utero and as an infant. I will never forget that Biden was the first president to offer my family anything for this sacrifice while my father was training as a U.S. Marine. I have been living in the Philippines for the past 5 years and in New Zealand from 2003-2010, so over 10 years in the Asia-Pacific & Oceania regions. This has given me a chance to learn first hand the issues many Americans face when they live and travel abroad. My children live in New Zealand and have 3 citizenships (USA/NZ/Italy).

Photo is of me (Andrew) and my Home Health Aide (Leslie), who is also my fiancee. We plan to be married in June 2023.

I support 4 Filipino kids, my stepkids who call me "Poppa Andrew." Two have disabilities, as do I.

My disabilities are from public service. These include injuries from Camp LeJeune, but also broken legs and pelvis from being hit by a reckless driver on my way to the Indiana Supreme Court, where I used to work for the Chief Justice.
