Running for: Chair/ Presidente
I moved to Guadalajara from New York City in November 2019. One of the first things I did in Guadalajara was join Democrats Abroad as I have always considered voting a right that should not be taken for granted. As Chair since last year, I worked to get out the vote in Guadalajara, even though we fell short we can't afford to get complacent, that is how dictatorships start. I know many are tired and disappointed, but we have to fight back. We just need to flip 5 seats to take over Congress, this is a doable task. Before being Chair I was Secretary and before being on the board I helped as a volunteer working to get out the vote.

Me mudé de Nueva York a Guadalajara en noviembre de 2019. Una de las primeras cosas que hice al llegar fue unirme a Democrats Abroad dado que siempre he considerado el derecho al voto como un derecho que no debe darse por sentado. Como presidenta desde el año pasado en Guadalajara trabajé para promover el voto, y aun cuando nos quedamos cortos, no podemos darnos el lujo de volvernos complacientes, así es como empiezan las dictaduras. Sé que muchos se sienten cansados o decepcionados, pero tenemos que contraatacar. Necesitamos solamente cambiar cinco escaños para tomar control del Congreso, y esto es una tarea posible. Antes de ser presidenta fui secretaria y antes de eso siendo parte de la Junta participé como voluntaria trabajando para promover el voto.
Nicholas McLellan
Running for: Vice-Chair/ Vice-Presidente
Nick McLellan grew up in Fargo, North Dakota. He was raised as a Catholic and as a Democrat in a very Protestant and Republican environment. In 1970 he graduated from North Dakota State University and left for the much greener fields of Oregon. In 1977 he moved to Guadalajara. His plan was to teach English until he learned enough Spanish to do something more interesting. He learned Spanish and realized that teaching was his vocation. He married a wonderful Tapatia and they raised two fantastic daughters. Cancer took his wife, and his daughters married. He retired and became an active member of Democrats Abroad. He is greatly disturbed by the Christian Nationalists - the Republicans Taliban. He is also active in the American Society.
Nick McLellan
Nick McLellan creció en Fargo, Dakota del Norte. Fue criado como católico y demócrata en un ambiente predominantemente protestante y republicano. En 1970 se graduó en la North Dakota State University y se mudó a los mucho más verdes campos de Oregon. En 1977 se vino a vivir a Guadalajara. Su plan era enseñar inglés hasta haber aprendido suficiente español para hacer algo más interesante. Aprendió español y se dió cuenta de que la enseñanza era su vocación. Se casó con una tapatía maravillosa y criaron dos hijas fantásticas. Su esposa murió de cáncer y sus hijas se casaron. Se jubiló y se convirtió en un miembro activo de Demócratas en el Extranjero. Le preocupan grandemente los Cristianos Nacionalistas - los Talibanes Republicanos. También participa activamente en la American Society.
Anne Senter
Running for: Secretary/ Secretaria
I moved to Mexico in 2021 from Los Angeles, California. I joined the Democrats Abroad Guadalajara chapter in January 2024 and took on the board secretary position shortly thereafter. The secretary’s position has been great, because taking notes and helping to keep groups on schedule is both fun and productive. I have most enjoyed supporting Americans living abroad with registering to vote, requesting ballots, and returning ballots in time to be counted during elections. For me, our Democratic loss in the November 2024 presidential elections means that we need to strengthen our commitment to small “d” democracy by continuing to build local community here in Guadalajara as well as staying connected to our communities in the United States. Me mudé a Mexico en 2021 desde Los Ángeles, California. Me uní al capítulo de Guadalajara de Demócratas en el Extranjero en enero de 2024 y poco después asumí el cargo de Secretaria de la Junta. Este puesto me ha parecido genial, ya que tomar notas y ayudar a mantener a los grupos al día es divertido y productivo. Lo que más he disfrutado ha sido poder apoyar a los estadounidenses que viven en el extranjero a registrarse para votar, solicitar sus boletas y devolverlas a tiempo para ser contadas durante las elecciones. Para mí nuestra derrota Demócrata en las elecciones presidenciales de noviembre de 2024 significa que debemos fortalecer nuestro compromiso con la democracia con “d” minúscula al seguir construyendo comunidades locales, aquí en Guadalajara, así como estando conectados con nuestras comunidades en los Estados Unidos. ¡Ánimo!

Running for: Member at Large/ Miembro General
I have lived in the Guadalajara area, Zapopan actually, for five years now. But, as my biological parents retired here, I have been visiting for over 30 years. I love Mexico! While I have lived in many countries and was born in The Philippines, I consider Vermont to be my home state.
I maintain a strong interest in both democracy and politics so greatly value the work done to get-out-the-vote by organizations such as Democrats Abroad.
While deeply disappointed by the results of the last US elections, I accept them and recognize that democracy is about looking forward, not back. There is work to be done. I would like to contribute my time and energy to help us move forward in a positive direction. Every election counts, and I am particularly interested in the Senate and Congressional elections coming up in two years.

I moved to the Guadalajara area in 2011 after a yearlong backpacking journey through Latin America, settling first in the alternative community of Teopantli Kalpulli. I moved to Barrio Analco in the Centro Histórico in 2016 and have been here ever since, going back and forth to my native Missouri.
In my professional life I’m an independent journalist and photographer. I’m the founder of The Esperanza Project, a bilingual journalism and media empowerment project. In my pre-Mexico life I served as editor and writer for the San Antonio Express-News and the Houston Chronicle and as a journalism professor at the University of Missouri.
My work has kept me pretty busy but I’ve been wanting to get involved in Democrats Abroad for a while now. With the election of Trump I was looking for ways to pitch in when Jude called and invited me to run for the board. It felt to me like just the right call at just the right time. I would be honored to serve in this role and would love to get to know you all.
Tracy L. Barnett
Me mudé a la zona de Guadalajara en 2011 después de un viaje de un año con mochila por América Latina, estableciéndome primero en la comunidad alternativa de Teopantli Kalpulli. Me mudé a Barrio Analco en el Centro Histórico en 2016 y he estado aquí desde entonces, yendo y viniendo a mi natal Missouri.
En mi vida profesional soy periodista independiente y fotógrafa. Soy la fundadora de El Proyecto Esperanza, un proyecto de periodismo y empoderamiento mediático. En mi vida anterior a México trabajé como editora y redactora en el San Antonio Express-News y el Houston Chronicle y profesora de periodismo en la Universidad de Missouri.
Mi trabajo me ha mantenido bastante ocupada, pero he querido involucrarme en Democrats Abroad desde hace un tiempo. Ahora, con la elección de Trump, estaba buscando formas de colaborar cuando Jude me llamó y me invitó a postularme para la junta directiva. Me pareció que era la llamada indicada en el momento justo. Sería un honor para mí desempeñar este cargo y me encantaría conocerlos a todos.
